I understand the board wanting to manage and control devices that it owns, such as the Chromebooks given to all Grade 9 students this year and school computers. However, there may be a time when someone in charge says: "Hey, we already got away with having this much control, why don't we take the next step?" The board claims that they will not use those features to manage our devices. If they are allowed to control our devices and the content we can access, how are we supposed to learn and developed opinions of our own? I feel that the school board is trying to censor us and control our growing minds. However, you have to agree to download an app to your device that can give total control of your device to WRDSB staff. Lastly, on WRDSB Secure you can access nearly all websites and do not have to log in manually. On WRDSB Signup, you can access nearly all websites but you have to log in manually nearly every half-hour. On WRDSB Wireless, you can only access Google Drive and school-related sites. There are now three different Wi-Fis you can connect with: WRDSB Wireless, WRDSB Signup and WRDSB Secure. This month, the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) changed its Wi-Fi.
